Male: Jyri Aarniva, Tomi Joutsen (these 2 can do both clean vocals and growl, in an amazing way!!) Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto, Juha Kylmänen, Tuomas Saukkonen, Marco Hietala.
From other countries would be Lance King and Jorn Lande.... and must mention Johan Hegg's growl also the Lacrimas Profundere vocals have always been quite appealing to me...


Female: Liv Kristine, Tarja, Sarah Jezebel Deva, Lisa Middelhauve, Charlotte Wessels.

And how could I have left out Sharon den Adel??

@Storm: I am totally with you on all those gals. I LOVE Sarah Jezebel - her voice is like honey! Have you heard the new Xandria singer and if so what do you think? I think she sounds OK, but a different style for the band (where have we heard that before?).

Bruce Dickinson- Iron Maiden, Samson (A legend, biggest influence on modern metal)
James Hetfield- Metallica (Pure power, he's best mainly on the older stuff, but he's still okay)
Jari Mäenpää- Wintersun, Ensiferum (Do growls and screams count? But he does sing good too!)

Floor Jansen- After Forever (My favorite female singer, she has great diversity and power)

@Efin7184: Excellent list. I was just listening to some Metallica today, actually, and yeah, that man can sing! I hadn't listened to them in a while and it was like listening to them for the first time again...I need to listen to them way more often, I think.

Well, for example, I love Petri Lindroos, especially in his works with Norther, 'cause he sounded genuinely angry and so desperate at times! he was really screaming his soul out, which was touching me every time.

mm...no, I haven't heard the new Xandria girl, because I didn't feel ready at all I can't take out my head the previous vocal, she was very special... but I will listen one day, out of too great curiosity.

You're welcome! She's a GOOD singer, don't get me wrong; she's just different. Actually, her stage performance is good, too; Lisa always seemed to me to look uncomfortable on stage (from what I've seen on YouTube - God knows I live so far away from any decent entertainment PERIOD where I am, so I haven't seen anyone live! ) but Kristen looks like a good performer.

I just saw Kirsten live(the new singer of Xandria)..well i'll give her a chance after a new album studio...live ,for me at least,is not very convincing....but I usually give a chance to new singers so we will see

Except that they went the other route than most bands From non-classical to classical singer. I've always been quite indifferent towards Xandria and Lisa Middelhauve to be honest. She's OK, but the only Xandria song I know and like is India. They've just never done much for me. I have to give it to Lisa, however, that she does growls as well. Not many women do growls, let alone both harsh and clean. By the way, the new singer does both, too!

Oh, I just remember that Sabine Dünser (Elis) had a beautiful voice as well.
