Leaves' Eyes!
Ah, another of my favourites! I wasn't so stoked on Lovelorn, but everything since then has just gotten better and better. I also love their EPs - I find they put really great songs on them, even better than the regular CDs.
Liv Kristine makes me feel like a troll! She is just ridiculously beautiful.
The only weakness I find with LE is the male growls. Ugh. Sometimes I wish they would just do away with them altogether. They often sound so out of place and half-hearted.
Favourite songs: "Scarborough Fair", "Legend Land", "Tale of the Sea Maid", "Njord"
I also love that LE has a female bass player now!

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
I love Leaves' Eyes. Liv's voice is really beautiful.
My favorite songs are Senses Capture, Mourning Tree, Elegy and Scarborough Fair (acoustic version).
I agree with the male vocals. Alex is much better when he sings!
But it's weird anyway: Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes are the same bands. I saw them live and it's really weird to see the same band twice, but with a kind of different genre. And it also harms the quality of both bands live playing. Which is too band, since they both are great.

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
You know, I have never listened to Atrocity...I guess I should get on that.
Seriously, though, LE should lose Alex's growls. In songs like "My Destiny" he just brings down the song with his "my destiny!!!!" outbursts. He does something similar in "Legend Land" even though it's a little less annoying there. I just think he's more distracting to their sound rather than accentuating it.

I saw LE open for Blind Guardian a few years ago. She does have a great voice even though I didn't care too much for it. I could be wrong but are they married? It doesn't have relivance with the music but I was just thinking about the show

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
Haha. Well, that happens Her voice gets on my nerves every know and then as well. But then most times I really love it. It's softer and has this dreamy thing to it. It's something different.

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
Well I am picky I love more of the black and death metal bands so a lot of the female bands I don't care for

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
Yeah, this is kinda the complete opposite of black and death metal.

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
An interview with Liv Kristine here:
http://artout.ro/teen/539/
There are three vocalists in the world, so far, that routinely send a shiver up my spine. Sharon den Adel sometimes and Tarja is the one who does it the most by a wide margin. The other is Liv Kristine. I find it kinda odd how Tarja and Liv are best of friends and their vocals have a similar affect on me. The affect came first and then I found out that they are best buds.
Liv Kristine is from Stravanger, Norway. She and Raymond Istvan Rohonyi pioneered the 'beauty and the beast' vocals as the vocal duo of Theatre of Tragedy...at least they are credited as the ones to do it for every song. Sorry, can't remember where I read that. Aegis is a masterpiece (at least I think so).
This is the tracklist of the new LEAVES' EYES album "Symphonies of the Night" due out in November of 2013!
1. Hell to the Heavens
2. Fading Earth
3. Maid of Lorraine
4. Galswintha
5. Symphony of the Night
6. Saint Cecelia
7. Hymn to the Lone Sands
8. Angel and the Ghost
9. Éléonore de Provence
10. Nightshade
11. Ophelia
12. Eileen's Ardency (Bonus Track)*
13. One Caress (Bonus Track)**
* feat. Carmen Elise Espenæs (Midnattsol, Savn)
** Depeche Mode Cover
Streetdates:

15.11.2013 GAS/FIN & BENELUX
18.11.2013 UK/Rest of Europe

Re: Leaves' Eyes!
So it sucks that Liv is no longer in the band. How the band has also been dealing with it is immature. They have lost a chunk of fans on their social media pages due to people leaving them or them blocking people. At the end of the day, it is the fans that matter and got them to where they are. The band says the departure was mutual (familiar?) but Liv, herself, says it was not and that they are lying.

I reviewed the entire Leaves' Eyes catalogue for Damned & Divine Webzine at the Winter Storm USA site. Here is the link to it. Enjoy and/or criticize according to your taste:
