Thank you both. I am sure that I will. It seems to be a nice small but tight knit community.

Shadowman wrote:Hello all,
I am an old school metal fan mainly, but I listen to so many different bands that it is almost impossible for me to choose a favorite, so I have to divide it up sub genre. If I had to pick a favorite band from Finland, it would have to be Sentenced because of their morbid sense of humor in some of their songs. Reminds me of Monty Python a bit..
Hey there and welcome If you like Sentenced, have you tried Insomnium? Melodically they drop quite close to Sentenced although Insomnium has some grawl vocals mixed with clean vocals but the melodies are awesome.
Re: Introduce Yourselves!
Hello Tero Tolkki,
I do need to check them out. Sounds like Tanelli Jarva era Sentenced. Which I think is highly under appreciated by most Sentenced fans. I love Amok and the Love And Death ep. I wish I could remember what Jarva's other band is though. Is it any good?

Hello
Hi my name is Amanda. Im from Northern California and I am an anthropology student. I've been checking out several metal forums for a research paper that I am attempting to write at the moment, and this one seems fun and fits my needs well. I do love Finnish metal, in fact I'm going to Paganfest in San Francisco to see Ensiferum tonight. I would have to say that my favorite Finish metal bands are Korpiklaani and Turisas though.

Re: Introduce Yourselves!
Hei! My name's Nick, and apart from being a huge fan of metal and all things from Finland (learning Suomi at the moment, with varying degrees of success!), I run a power metal night at Eddies Rock Club in Birmingham, UK. Naturally there are a lot of very fine Finnish bands in the mix, like Korpiklaani, Turisas, Wintersun, Lordi, and Nightwish. It's stuff you'll not hear at any other metal night, and I'm trying to get it out there and more well-known, because I know there are loads of fans of this stuff around!

Re: Introduce Yourselves!
Hello all, another metalhead here. I'm from Finland and my love to metal started with finnish metal, Stratovarius to be exact. After that came Nightwish and Sonata Arctica, and many more.
Nowadays my taste in music has widened, to bands like Rammstein and Lake of Tears, to mention few. But generally I like to listen power metal and symphonic metal, like Rhapsody, X Japan and Blind Guardian.

Re: Introduce Yourselves!
Hello everyone,
My name's Judith and I'm very happy to finally join this family and get in touch with all of you.
As the rest of you I suppose, I also love music, and Finland, and Finnish music ^^
I don't have one favourite band, and not even one favourite gender. It depends on the day/moment/mood, so I can change from melodic death metal to hard rock, folk or heavy or God-knows-what-else
If there's anything else you want to know about me, feel free to ask

Terve! Hello everyone!
My name is Sylvi, I am from Espoo, Finland and I am almost 19 years old. I just found this forum a few days ago, and I just want to say that it's really amazing! I love folk/viking metal, but I wouldn't consider it as my favourite metal genre. It seriously depends on the band. I listen to metal since I was 9 and I have a band.

Welcome Sylvia! I hope you enjoy your stay here. Feel free to open new topics, promote your band, etc.
Re: Introduce Yourselves!
I'm Brian and I'm from Canada. I live about 100 km west of Toronto. Daenerys invited me so you can blame her....lol. I'm a member in good standing in her "Winter Storm USA" forum and I've posted a few things in her "Damned & Divine" Webzine.
I've been a Metalhead since the 1970s. I was listening to Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest before the term coined by Steppenwolf in their classic "Born To Be Wild" was widely used (ie. ♫ 'Heavy Metal thunder....'♫). The first Finnish metal band I remember hearing was Hanoi Rocks.
I'm a new comer to the Finnish Metal Scene. I can thank the documentary "Metal Evolution" presented by Canadian Metalhead and anthropologist Sam Dunn for that. On one episode a segment was devoted to Nightwish, including the video 'Nemo'. As soon as I heard Tarja sing I had a 'jaw hits the floor' experience. Tarja has the finest female singing voice that my ears have ever heard. Period.
I have as much of Tarja's music (all her Nightwish and solo CDs and DVDs) that I can get here. I have a Stratovarius DVD plus some Turisas and Battlelore. I'm sure I'll add some more Finnish bands to this, but I'm also exploring some Scandinavian Viking/Folk Metal (Tristania, Leaves' Eyes, Amon Amarth, Therion) and European Symphonic Metal bands (Within Temptation, Epica) too....Too much to listen to and not enough time to do it....

Re: Introduce Yourselves!
Um, hello!
My name is Agata, but friends are calling me Laina because of my interest in Finland and Finnish metal
I've started listening to Finnish metal when I was 14 years old, and I've started with Ensiferum & Korpiklaani. Later I was listening to Norther, Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Finntroll, Moonsorrow... the list is pretty long and I can't say I remember all the bands, but for few years I was deeply in love with Wintersun. Nowadays I'm more into death & black metal, bands like Sotajumala, Baptism, Ikuinen Kaamos and so on.
Anyway, nice to be here! Hope I can spend some good time here and expand my band list
