Re: Your First time?
First Finnish band I heard? Hmm... I think Children Of Bodom gets that honor.
Nightwish is the first Finnish band I've seen.

Re: Your First time?
For me it was Sentenced via a Finnish penpal at the time and Nightwish followed. Then eventually I found myself listening to other Finnish bands (69 Eyes, never really could get too much into HIM although they have a few songs that I do like, idk what it is about them but the others would be Charon, Poisonblack, Norther, Children of Bodom, etc..).

Re: Your First time?
The first Finnish band I got into was more rock than metal, so when it comes to metal it's gotta be Children of Bodom in 2006. ^^ Can't remember which song though...

Re: Your First time?
It was 4 years ago, I had borrowed my friend's ipod and listened to 'Killing Me, Killing You' by Sentenced, they were the first Finnish band I got into..And then I discovered HIM but I wouldn't call them 'metal'.

The first finnish metal artist that I found... Tarja (while she was a part of Nightwish)
I was watching TV, and Much Music played the Nemo video clip.

Re: Your First time?
The first time I heard finnish metal was Children of Bodom's - Mask of Sanity in 03. Since then most of my collection hails from Finland or other parts of Europe.

Well... First bands i've heard were Sentenced (my uncle is a fan), and probably Nightwish, since it was shown here on TV... But that was a looong time ago, what really got me into Finnish Metal was Sonata Arctica... They are the first Finnish band that i've heard live as well... xD

I think I'm the first one telling it was Impaled Nazarene, around 95-96 I think.

Re: Your First time?
I think mine was HIM's "Join Me In Death". I found Ville's voice so deep and, let's say, seductive. From then on, I searched for their works and other similar stuff... but hey, I live in a small place, so not that easy.
First Finnish band live... HIM as well, and they had Paradise Lost as their supporting band. I suppose it was the tour after Venus Doom release. For me, though, HIM's best albums are the first ones, until Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights or Love Metal, and they left DSABH out of the setlist, or maybe they played one song... only. :/
The show wasn't bad, but just to add a final touch, the decoration at the venue -with a couple of palm trees in the bar, in the middle of the dancefloor- was not the most suitable for these two bands, don't you think? xD

Re: Your First time?
The first Finnish band I ever heard was 'Hanoi Rocks', the Glam Metal/Rock/Punk band back around 1980.
As for my next Finnish band in recent history, fast forward 30+ years: On January 20, 2012 I was watching the documentary "Metal Evolution". 'Nightwish' was featured in the final segment of the 'Power Metal' episode (which included showing parts of the 'Nemo' video) and as soon as I heard Tarja sing my 'jaw hit the floor'.
I've seen no Finnish bands live to date.
My days of going to concerts has pretty much ended. Been there done that. However, there is only one artist, and only one artist in the entire world, that I would still go to see live and that is Tarja; for both her classical 'Beauty and the Beat' show and her rock/metal show. Hopefully one day I will see both even if I have to travel to Europe to do so.
